Painting by Pablo AmaringoVictoria Alexander has been researching the mysticism of Catholic Saints for over 20 years. She is writing a book titled “Holy Eroticism: The Erotic Life of Saints.” Her research has led her to examine the similarities between the mystical experiences of medieval saints to ayahuasca. In this talk, taken from her article that was published in the November 2007 issue of “The Anomalist,” she will discuss the various methods mystics used to enter visionary states and how it relates to Westerner’s quest for such experiences using ayahuasca as the agent for revelation.

Victoria’s breakthrough research, “The Alexander UFO Religious Crisis Survey,” (1995) a survey of 1000 theologians on the impact of UFO’s on religion, was funded by the Bigelow Foundation and is available on The National Institute for Discovery Science website.
A Sufi initiated by Pir Vilayat Khan when 16 years old, Victoria also spent a year at the Bihar School of Yoga in Bihar, Munger, India studying Kriya Yoga with Swami Satyananda Saraswati. Victoria and John travel all over the world as Victoria studies, investigates, and when possible, participates, in non-traditional spiritual realms including spirit possession, Candomble, Umbanda, Spiritism, Hinduism, and Tibetan Buddhism.
